About Jody

Jody began her radical journey 12 years ago. Jody was in an old-school firm with seven partners and had just come off a bad tax season. No one really knew what anyone else was doing. It truly operated as seven separate practices. As a young staff member, Jody was working an insane number of hours a week. When she became a mother, Jody knew the culture of this firm was just not right for her.

Jody decided it was time to try another angle. That’s when she joined her dad’s firm. It was a side practice that he operated while working in corporate tax; its annual revenue was less than $100,000. One of the first things he said to Jody was, “This is my practice, and you’ll need to go find your own customers.” And that was the best advice he ever gave Jody.

Today, Jody Padar is CEO and Principal of the New Vision CPA Group, a public accounting firm based in the Chicago area. As one of the profession’s visionary thought leaders, Jody has transitioned New Vision to New Firm status adopting advanced technologies and best practices to enable everyday innovation and redefine the business model of an accounting practice.

She’s a change agent who embraces the cloud, social media, and other highly advanced technologies (artificial intelligence) and practices. Since 2006, she evolved her father’s traditional tax firm into a fast-growing firm that puts customers first, embraces new thinking and communicates openly. In addition to leading her firm, she also works to educate and drive the profession into the digital age. A frequent writer and speaker throughout the industry, Jody is the author of both The Radical CPA: New Rules for the Future-Ready Firm and From Success to Significance: The Radical CPA Guide and frequently blogs for Accounting Today. She has been one of Accounting Today’s Top 100 Most Influential People since 2011 and a Managing Partner Elite since 2015.
